PROBLEM: Machine code in the Registration Assistant changes
|
SYMPTOMS
When attempting to register an ASNA product using the Registration Assistant, at times the machine code will change on its own. The machine code is generated based on the hardware configuration of the PC on which the Registration Assistant is present. Under normal conditions, the machine code remains the same until a significant change to the PC's hardware configuration is made.
RESOLUTION
Here is the fix:
- Close down all programs that are running.
- Open up the registry file from "Run" on the start menu by typing "Regedit".
- Open the folder called KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ASNA\Shared.
- Inside this folder is a key called Machine Identifier. Delete this key (See Figure 1).
- Close the Registry Editor
- Re-run the ASNA Registration Assistant.
- The machine code may have changed, so a new key will have to be generated.
- Input the new key, make sure all other options are checked correctly and register!
